Indian opener Rohit Sharma expressed his admiration for the unbeaten 168-run partnership with Virat Kohli, describing it as a "fantastic" achievement during a pivotal moment in the match.
The duo overcame their earlier struggles in the first two ODIs, which India lost, and launched a fierce attack on the Australian bowlers while successfully chasing down a target of 237 runs. Rohit scored an impressive unbeaten 121*, while Virat made a solid contribution with a risk-free 74*.
Understanding and Experience in Partnership
In a video released by the BCCI, Rohit reflected on their partnership, emphasizing their reliance on experience and mutual understanding to stabilize the innings after an early wicket.
"It was a fantastic partnership. We hadn't had a 100-run partnership in a while, so it was crucial for the team. After losing Gill early, we felt the pressure, especially with Shreyas absent. This partnership was vital," Rohit noted.
"We enjoyed every moment on the field, engaging in plenty of conversation. Our extensive experience playing together helped us navigate the game effectively. It was about understanding the situation and executing our plans, which we did well," he added.
Rohit's Century Performance at SCG
After a disappointing outing in Perth where he scored just 8 runs, Rohit rebounded with a composed 73 off 97 balls. In the final match of the series, he showcased his skills with a remarkable 121* off 125 balls, leading India to a nine-wicket victory.
Discussing his century in the third ODI against Australia, Rohit remarked, "I love playing in Australia. It was the ideal day to score big and help the team succeed. I aimed to bat as long as possible and guide the team through. Sometimes plans don’t work out, but today everything fell into place. Playing in Australia requires careful planning, and I utilized my past experiences effectively."
Farewell Message from Sydney
Rohit shared an emotional farewell message on social media following India's match in Sydney, stating, "One last time, signing off from Sydney."
